The last great Alaskan gold rush

In 2011 three things happened. The gold price spiked to over $1,900 an ounce (the highest ever recorded price at the time), Bering Sea Gold was Discovery Channel’s most successful show premiere ever, and California shut down placer gold dredging.

The result? A mad gold rush in 2012 to the bottom of the Bering Sea off the coast of Nome, Alaska.

This is the story as told by Emily and Steve Riedel.
